Do you have a passion for aviation and aerospace? Do you enjoy meeting new people and sharing their stories with others? Do you have a way with the written word? Then you may be a candidate for Embry-Riddle's Eagle Writers Corps (EWC).
A group of contributing writers, the EWC is helping Embry-Riddle expand and enrich its print and digital content for its 130,000-plus alumni. Eagle Writers develop articles for Lift magazine and/or write features for a variety of online platforms. They may also participate in drafting social media posts, compiling or editing class notes and other editorial tasks that serve our alumni audience. Eagle Writers build personal connections with members of the Eagle Alumni Network, grow their writing portfolios and are rewarded intrinsically through their contributions of time, talent and skill to the university.
EWC membership is competitive and by invitation only. Interested EWC members should complete the Join the EWC application and attach a resume and two to three writing samples. Candidates who appear to have the requisite skill set — and a passion for Embry-Riddle and the aviation/aerospace industry — will be considered for a conditional 12-month membership (renewable upon mutual agreement). Approved contributing writers will work directly with the senior director of communications for the office of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement to produce an estimated three to five articles during a 12 month period. Articles may vary in length and topic/focus, and may be published in any of Embry-Riddle’s digital platforms or print publications.
Join the EWC Meet our Eagle Writers
Membership in the EWC does not guarantee that a writer’s work will be published. All commitments of time and the submission of materials are understood to be provided to the university gratis. EWC members will receive appropriate attribution for any published work and will be recognized on the EWC web page with a short profile and photo. Through their volunteer efforts, EWC members are expected to support the goals of the EWC program, the office of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
