Embry-Riddle Returns to Brazil After 72 Years; Honors ETAv Alumni
Nearly 72 years after Embry-Riddle first helped establish an aviation school for the Brazilian Air Force, the university announced its return to the now ever-growing Brazilian aviation industry during the Aug. 11 opening ceremony of the Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (LABACE). It also honored Brazilian alumni from the Escola Técnica de Aviacão (ETAv) in São Paulo.

Embry-Riddle will commence its yearlong 90th anniversary (1926-2016) celebration at the Prescott Campus’ Wings Out West/OctoberWest Alumni Homecoming Weekend, set for Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, 2015. The Daytona Beach Alumni Fly-In and Homecoming Weekend, set for Oct. 7-10, will also salute Embry-Riddle history. A team of research professors in the College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach Campus have been chosen by NASA to receive a $100,000 grant to develop a futuristic concept using unmanned aircraft to utilize wind and solar power 50,000 to 60,000 feet above the Earth that someday might augment cell tower and orbital satellite communications.

Embry-Riddle Prescott Campus pilot/captain Claire Schindler and co-pilot Erica Diels ('04, '07, PC) secured a campus-best fourth-place finish overall. Meanwhile, Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach pilot Sarah Wendt ('11, DB) and co-pilot Abigail Pasmore finished in sixth place overall and Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach pilot/captain Nancy Snyder and co-pilot Emmy Dillon placed 30th overall.

Alumni Relations and Global Engagement launched its inaugural Eagles Travel Abroad program this year, in an attempt to bring the university’s 120,000-plus alumni from across the globe together for unique new experiences.The program hosted 11 travelers in its maiden voyage to Italy, including alumni from the Worldwide, Daytona Beach, Fla. and Prescott, Ariz. campuses.

ERAU Flight Teams Take Third, Fifth Place at NIFA SAFECON Nationals
Demonstrating its elite status at the annual National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON), the Golden Eagles flight team from Embry-Riddle’s Prescott Campus placed third overall at SAFECON’s 2015 national competition. The Eagles flight team of the university’s Daytona Beach Campus tied for fifth overall.

Embry-Riddle Campuses Welcome 1,029 New Graduates
Embry-Riddle campuses held spring commencement ceremonies for 1,029 students this month, according to the Registrar's office. At its May 2 commencement, the Prescott Campus had 244 students graduate, plus 30 Worldwide students. Meanwhile the Worldwide Campus honored 294 new graduates at a May 2 ceremony held in Daytona Beach. The Daytona Beach Campus's commencement ceremony celebrated 461 new graduates on May 11.

Embry-Riddle welcomed 588 new alumni this December at commencement ceremonies for its two residential campuses and its Worldwide Campus.  At their Dec. 13 ceremonies, the Prescott and Worldwide campuses celebrated 99 and 46 new additions, respectively, while Daytona Beach added 443 alumni at its Dec. 15 commencement.

Embry-Riddle Named Among Top Schools for Military and Veterans for Sixth Straight Year
For the sixth consecutive year, Military Advanced Education (MAE) magazine awarded Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University a "Top School" designation in its Guide to Colleges & Universities. This year all three of the university's campuses achieved this recognition. Active-duty military and veterans make up 54 percent of the total enrollment at Embry-Riddle.
