Daytona Beach Alumni Social & Special Speaker Event

Prior to Embry-Riddle's featured speaker, local alumni are encouraged to attend a social event at the Alumni Association. Enjoy refreshments and light hors d'oeuvres with fellow Eagles and meet Mike Pepin ('86, DB), the new leader of the Daytona Beach Alumni Chapter, in addition to other members of the leadership team who will be re-energizing the group.

The Honors Program Distinguished Speakers Series begins this academic year with
internationally renowned CNN Middle East correspondent Peter Bergen, who will discuss the
recent wave of unrest and revolution across the Middle East and North Africa. His talk is titled
"The Awakening: How Revolutionaries, Barack Obama and Ordinary Muslims are Remaking the
Middle East (and What it Means for Oil, Terrorism and America)."

Bergen, one of the rare Westerners to have interviewed Osama bin Laden on camera, has authored
numerous books, including "The Longest War: The Enduring Conflict Between America and Al Qaeda."
He will be signing copies of the book after his presentation.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Social hour at 6:00 p.m.
Lecture at 7:30 p.m.
